lucky me: the mod bod

i have never been a lucky person
...except when it comes to blogging.

imagine my glee when i was contacted by the mod bod who said they wanted to send me a box of clothing from their fall line for me to enjoy and review. is there any woman on the planet that would not jump at this request? i dare you to find one.

seeing as this contested adoption has helped me gain 25 lbs, (i blame this on the birth father as well; there is no way i can be held accountable for such a thing) i have been putting off and putting off my review seeing as i wanted to include pictures of each item i was sent and how i mixed it into my already existing wardrobe.

enter kim orlandini and her incredible new photography studio. let me tell you how nice it is to have two women who are professional photographers as my dear friends. not only do they teach me heaps, they are the people to go to when you are not feeling so fab about yourself (25 lbs will do that to you, right?)

i asked kim if she would help me with my little project. she agreed and spent an hour or so fixing my hair, tucking in shirts and tilting my head. that's when you know you have a good photographer--if they will take the time to pose you and fix your hair. (looking for someone to take your christmas card photos? may i suggest kim and her studio? you will love, i promise.)

when i opened the packages and felt all the fabrics, i was in love. that's the number one thing i learned about mod bod ...they use GREAT fabrics--soft, pretty, well-made.

the perfect V-neck, white 3/4 sleeve length shirt ($17.56)

i have been needing an "undershirt" like this for a long time to wear under my favorite summer items and force them to work for cold weather too. lol. i like this piece because of the neck. it seems that a lot of these undershirt type pieces are a high, tight crew necks that i swear is going to choke me by the end of the day. not this baby. and it think it can pass as a V or a round neck.

as a mom of two messy toddler boys, i am glad it's not long sleeve--especially since it is white. at the end of the day, i am always surprised to see marker, m&m stains and playdough sticking to me around the wrists.

i tucked the perfect V under this shirt dress from nordstrom from over the summer. the jeans are my second oldest pair of sevens for all mankind and my shoes are brick red peep toes from target from like 4 years ago. if you look super close, i am also wearing my fear not necklace. i love the carved yellow jade in that design.

amberlee jacket ($41.60) and morgan pants ($28.80)

can a girl ever have too much lounge wear? i should say not.

the first thing i noticed about these pieces is how incredibly soft the fabric is. luxurious for sure.

i love the pockets on the jacket. i feel like they are well-placed and i like the fact that they are HUGE because it makes me feel little. actually, i feel super tough when i wear this jacket--the pockets remind me of like a SWAT team outfit or something. (when i told mr. r that he looked at me blankly.) i love it. i am wearing the perfect V under this jacket as well and sporting my survivor necklace with carved lemon quartz.

call me crazy, but i could not, for the life of me, figure out the yoga pant tops. seriously. if you know what to do with this piece of fabic ...i need help. however, there is a sneaky little zipper pocket in these pants that i love.
(p.s. how creepy do my fingers look in this photo? i kind of dig it.)

katie jean skirt ($38.40)

i wish i had gotten a super close up of the fabric on this skirt. it's really light weight. i love the weave--you can see the white, the lighter blue, the darker blue. it's really pretty.

and it's really cute, but i think it would look best on people with longer legs ...not us hobbits. lol.

i kind of struggled with what to put with this skirt which is ridiculous because it is a jean fabric. i asked the people at mod bod for some help and they said plum worked really well with it and sparkles. so, i paired it with this low v-neck from nordstrom from probably 5 summers ago, this black cardigan from express from even longer ago, the cowgirl boots i purchased when i served part of my mission in dodge city and that sparkly pin from anthropology's current collection. i love the jean and the plum together. brilliant!

victoria skirt with pleats ($51.20)

i saved my favorite for last.

this skirt is out of this world. the main part of it is so comfortable ...it almost feels like the same fabric that the lounge wear is made out of. however, at the bottom, it is ultra-elegant with pleats and a little bow. i would wear this everyday if i could. my favorite by far.

i paired this skirt with a shell from some random, trendy little shop at the mall 5 years ago, a velvet jacket from nordstrom from 2 years ago, fishnet stockings from target, kenzie girl wedge peep toes shoes (with blue ribbon detail ...my favorite shoes on the planet) and a hair pretty currently available at j crew.

many, many thanks to the mod bod for such a fun project.

disclosure: kim orlandini is a friend and offered her photography for free for this little project of mine. the mod bod sent me this package of free product in exchange for a review. neither kim orlandini nor the mod bod tried to influence my review.
